Smitti Supab
Based out of New Orleans, Smitti is an electric and upright professional bassist who has travelled the world many times over, sharing the soulfulness and spontaneity of most styles of American music (blues, rock, rhythm and blues, soul, funk, pop, folk, jazz, country, to name a few) with people of all backgrounds.
His versatility and vibe has enabled him to tour with national acts such as Eric Lindell, record albums with notable musicians, play music festivals in New Orleans and across the U.S.A, and perform at iconic venues, occasionally backing New Orleans luminaries as talented as Glen David Andrews, James Andrews, and Mem Shannon.
Besides running his own band, Captain Buckles (www.CaptainBucklesBand.com), he regularly backs New Orleans musicians as a sideman. Some of the more notable artists that he works with or has worked with regularly are: Lee Floyd, Efrem Towns (Dirty Dozen Brass Band), Ingrid Lucia (Squirrel Nut Zippers), Glen "Buddha" Finister Andrews (Preservation Hall Band), Dave Hammer (Doreen Ketchens, Layla McCalla), Steve Walker (Dirty Dozen, Rebirth Brass Band), Michael Darby (Irene & the Mikes), and Warner Williams (Irma Thomas).
Since 2021 he has regularly travelled to Europe, often in the summer months, performing with groups and musicians of varying notoriety, and sometimes performing as Smitti & Friends.
